A new study has figured out the optimal frequency of sex for a couple to experience well-being.
John Updike once said, “Sex is like money; only too much is enough." But is there an optimal frequency for how often couples should be sleeping together
when it comes to well-being? Researchers at the University of Toronto may have found the magic number.
According to a new study, it's once a week. The authors found that sexual frequency is no longer significantly associated with well-being if you have sex more often than that. Of course, there's no harm in getting frisky between the sheets more often, so there's obviously no need to cut back if you're in a good routine. But if you're secretly comparing your relationship to those media stories of couples who “kick-started" their marriage by having sex every day for a year… stop. This study is proof that they're no better off than ones who only get busy once a week.
Now, if you're looking at this number and realizing you want to up your frequency (to take full advantage of that well-being benefit, of course), here's a handy guide to stopping with the sexcuses and some tips to spice things up in the bedroom.
