Kim Kardashian Denies Reports That She Stole Her Perfume Bottle Idea

by - April 28, 2018

When it comes to her beauty lines, Kim Kardashian takes a "go big or go home approach." What did she have up her sleeve this time? Making the bottle of her new fragrance, KKW Body, out of a mold of her own body.

While the buzz around the new project has mostly been about the fragrance itself (and the very naked process required to create it), some have pointed out that using a body as a perfume bottle has been done before—by designer Jean Paul Gaultier's 1993 perfume Classique.

Same old attention seeking tactics from Kim Kardashian 🤦🏽‍♀️

And this is the reason why Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic perfume is called Classique.

Kim Kardashian’s new perfume bottle looks like Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique and Alexandros of Antioch’s Venus de Milo sculpture had a baby.
Thankfully, Cosmopolitan spoke with Kardashian to put any accusations of copying to rest, once and for all.
"Sculptures were my inspiration, but I love that bottle," Kardashian said of the 1993 scent. "It's iconic and celebrates the woman’s body, but my inspiration was a statue. I wanted [mine] to be really personal with my exact mold, but I’ve always loved the Gaultier bottles."

The sculptural inspiration does come through, especially since the material the KKW Body fragrance bottle is made out of looks exactly like clay.
"We were making a mold of my body for the fragrance, but we were also making it to make a big sculpture," she said. No word yet on where in her $60 million home the sculpture will be placed.
