Be yourself!

Jennifer Lawrence celebrated ahead of the Kentucky Derby in a pizza-stained dress.
An insider told Page Six on Monday that she spent the weekend in her native Kentucky, “dancing and letting her hair down” at the Woodford Reserve distillery on Friday but experiencing a fashion crisis on Sunday.
“She actually forgot the Dolce & Gabbana dress that she was going to wear for the opening of Derby Week at Churchill Downs in New York City,” the insider said. “She had to have her dress flown down via private jet, just to learn it had a pizza stain on it!”
She “did her best to conceal her pizza stain with her clutch the whole evening, but laughed about it as she walked the orange carpet,” the insider added.
Lawrence, 27, was back in her home state to raise money for the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund by drinking $2,500 mint juleps.
The Derby takes place this Saturday.
Her fashion choices also came into question in February when she donned a revealing Versace dress without a coat to promote “Red Sparrow” in London.
“That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf?” she wrote on Facebook at the time. “[T]his is ridiculous, this is not feminism. Overreacting about . . . silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward . . . Get a grip people.”

outdoor dinner party

You've invited your guests and went as far as to set the table, but there's much more you need to know when entertaining for friends.
Plan AheadLet the crew know about your party at least 10 days in advance. You don't want to get down to the wire and realize half of your guest list can't make it. Plus, it's polite to let everyone plan your party into their busy schedules.
Check and RecheckDon't wait until the 11th hour to make an ice run: Make a list of all the items you'll need and go shopping a couple of days before. Once you get home from the store, lay out every ingredient needed for each recipe as well as bathroom essentials (like towels, a candle, and extra TP).
Plan a Low-Maintenance MealPick a main course that doesn't need a lot of fussing over. Although fajitas sound like fiesta food, they're best eaten hot off the grill, making it impossible to hang out with friends while monitoring the meat. One of our favorite entrees is lasagna -- it pleases carnivores and vegetarians alike. And you can make it in advance and then just pop it into the oven to warm it up. Pick a simple salad as well: Prepare it before guests arrive and drizzle it with dressing just before serving.
Do a Test RunSuccessful dinner parties start with a well-practiced recipe. Make the crowd-pleasing crab dip you've brought to everyone else's parties. Using a familiar recipe will ease some of your stress, and your guests won't complain -- their mouths will be full. If you don't cook regularly (or ever), try your concoctions at least once before making them for a roomful of hungry friends.
Use Premade ItemsUnless you're Giada, you probably won't have the time or energy to make all the food you serve. So go to a French bakery or gourmet grocery and stock up on fruit tarts or a delicious side dish. No one will know the difference.
Have Appetizers ReadyGuests will arrive hungry, but don't spring the main course on them right away. Give everyone a chance to relax and hang out. Chips and dip are old standbys, but it's much more fun to try something more creative. If you opt for the lasagna dinner, a good like-minded Italian appetizer is bruschetta -- toasted slices of French bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil and chopped tomatoes. Help guests identify what you're serving with DIY signs or treat topper labels for each dish.
Let Someone Else Bartend
This is a role many people (read: men) will be all too eager to play -- why not let 'em? It'll save you time and stress. As far as drinks go, save the wine for dinner and start the evening with something fun and frozen, like margaritas or daiquiris (put that new blender to good use!). For a fancier shindig, let your bartender mix up martinis or a signature cocktail, and top it off with a decorative fruit skewer or stirrer.
Mix and Match Friends
No need to play matchmaker (unless you want to!), but dinner parties are always more interesting with a few wild cards. Bring together friends from different circles, mix singles and couples or introduce different personalities who you know will hit it it off.
Include EntertainmentMake sure you have a camera ready, along with fun props that fit your theme -- it's a fun way to engage your guests and document the night. Another ice-breaker: Pull out an active game like Pictionary or Cranium and play a couple of rounds over drinks and dessert.

Beach party
Getting back to the UK after living abroad for a decade or two is quite the culture shock. One is immediately subject to “let’s go out for a curry” or “quick pint?” invitations. Now, this may sound, to the untrained ear, like an innocent dinner at an Indian restaurant, or a swift lager at a local hostelry, but don’t let the buggers fool you. That’s not the way they commit to such expeditions: whilst partying in Bali doesn’t really start until 10.30pm or even later, the Brits will have you in the pub by lunchtime, even if the dinner reservation’s late that evening.

UK Pubs vs Bali Party

Typically, a full nine hours of liberal boozing later, you stagger up to the blurred restaurant, coat hanging off (you got about halfway through the jacket-donning project back in the pub, but had to cancel the undertaking due to insufficient limb management), pausing at the doorstep like a skittish thoroughbred initially refusing a Grand National jump. Unappreciative restaurant staff severely criticize your lambada attempt with the reception area rubber plant and flatly refuse you service.
This is why Britain has so many fish ‘n’ chip shops.
By comparison, people in Bali tend to eat dinner before they start partying, so the bars are often empty until midnight starts to loom. If you prefer your Bali party to be a quiet drink rather than a raucous night on the town, it’s best to stay in your hotel or resort. But if you want to tear it up a little (or a lot) there’s a few places I can recommend:

Kuta Beach

Kuta is probably the most popular place to party in Bali, and provides everything you can expect from southeast Asian nightlife, though there is much more provision now for couples and people not particularly keen on engaging a prostitute.
The main hotel and shopping strip runs along the beach. Walking distance bars for a little mayhem include Casablanca, Peanuts Discotheque and the Bounty Ship. These places usually close around 2 or 3am, but drinking still goes on at Mama’s German Restaurant until the sun comes up.
Ladies of the night are known as Kupu Kupu Malams. They hang out in the bars and try to coerce you into buying drinks, as they usually make a percentage from the bar owner. Prices are cheap for both the booze and their attention.
More genteel environments can be found at TJ’s Mexican Bar or Kori, and Nero Bali if you’re, well, more respectable than I am.

Jimbaran Bay

The next bay down from Kuta, Jimbaran tends to be a little quieter and more refined, with many seafood restaurants complementing the serene surroundings. Some are good, some are bad. I recommend the Menega Cafe. Service can be slow, so plan on hanging out for a while, and be proactive about chasing down your pre-dinner snacks and cocktails.
Balinese seafood? British fish ‘n’ chips? There’s a parallel in there somewhere
